FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix

This was my first getaway. I'm now convinced that there are bodies behind such handles as Mmmmmmmmmario, Joe Offer, Big Mick, Janie and others, including the fizgoo-ers who hang out here.

My pix are here

Let's see if I can do this link for pictures. This seems a little wierd posting before the Sunday night concert is even finished! Blown away by this Getaway. I'd tell you all about my special moments but I'm afraid I'd leave someone out. I shed several tears and laughed heartily. Ah, but we are so blessed. So much music, so little time. Thanks for letting me be a part. Much appreciation to ALL the volunteers who made this possible.

Love to all,
Annie

We were warm, indeed, Dani. And you were greatly missed, as was KT, Ebbie, Jeri, and all the regulars. This was an exceptional Getaway, great workshops, wonderful guests, and an excellent facility. It was like night and day. I don't miss one thing about Ramblewood.

There were many highlights, and I am sure we will all post many rememberances. It was a doozy.

One of the highlights for me was sitting and singing with John Roberts and Dick Greenhaus until 6:00 AM. These lads have so many songs in their heads and they just kept going and going. Amazing.

All in all, a memorable gathering, full of fellowship, wonderful music, and good times. Perfect ....... well there was one bad moment on Saturday night, but we will just skip by that. It seemed like a tribute to bestiality....... but what happens at West River, MD stays in West River, MD........ LOL.

I've been home nearly two hours, but I'm only part way back to reality. Ebbie when you get to Wincing Devil's 142 and go on through you'll see that somehow Mz Mary mangaged to organize a major production number on Saturday night.

Like Mick there were many pleasant new features. Dani did you notice in the pictures that folks were singing in T shirts while there was frost on the cars ??!!! I'm not ready to start on memories they are all still sorting through and supper is not yet on the table. I'm waiting to hear from some of the Main-e-acks to check in from the straight through drive.

More later....

I think Tinker's just reveling in the fact that the buildings were heated. It was very cold outside, but we were real toasty indoors. In fact, some of the buildings were downright hot. It turned out the heat is adjustable, but a bit unpredictable. It'll take practice to get it right (not unlike music...)

We all had a fine time, but it might take a little while to jumpstart the brain cells to write coherent reports...

I tried to add a few captions on the pix, but they haven't shown up.

BTW, note how well Barry Finn looks! WAAAY better than last year!

WYS, in the past I've been known to walk around at night and hand out old winter coats to the poor frozen singers who are so inebri==enthralled with their own music they barely notice they are turning blue. The warmth did make it much easier to loose track of time altogether.

It was "brisk" outside - but not bad - in fact the impatiens planted by one of the cabins were still blooming until monday morning. (and gardeners know how tender and sensative they are to frosts!)

first time I'd ever been in the area for foliage season - made me homesick for New England.

I took very few photos myself and am very grateful to others who made up the difference.

Mick,
If you want to feel better about this, go see the thread about Dylan's Broadway fiasco. The clip of their BIG number makes us look very good.
Hey Amos - "and the horse you rode in on".

This was not an easy performance to sell. The cowboys felt (and looked - see the pictures) like horse's asses and some of the ladies had a real problem with the concept of being herded. Add to that GutBucketeer's overly enthusiastic whipping. Half the cast has already dropped out of next year's skit claiking that they want to be in the audience.

Next year - DooWop Folk. Take your favorite DooWop tune, write a folk story to it and come bearing poodle skirts and DAs. Note to all: Carly has agreed to appear and lend us some credibility.

Among other things that might be said about that video at YouTube where one guy likes the rendition of Ghost Riders,,,,,I'll post this one here.

I pulled it up for Karen without explanation and said, "Heree Honey...You need to check this one out." She sat in silence for about 30 seconds watching and then asked, "Just how drunk do you have to be to do something like this?" After I explained who it was we both cracked up. Obviously a fine time had by all. We both felt the flamingo riders were the best but as I asked over at YouTube, why was Mick riding a Shetland pony?

Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix
From: catspaw49

Personally, here's the way I figure it.

Back in 2000, Mick was presented with a spud to use to stuff his thong. Mick had been using one but to no real advantage since he put it in the back and people thought he was dropping a load. The spud given to him at the Getaway was a very Special Spud with Voodoo like powers and had Mick used it properly, women would have been crawling all over him and begging for his blandishments. I'm not sure how you blandish but I think it's related to a good, healthy, fuck....to put it bluntly. Anyway, this was not done.

Indeed Big Mick elected to leave the "Special Spud" behind as though it were only some sort of joke. As the years have passed a strange and horrible change came over his genitalia. First a noticeable softening occurred followed by odd growths. Then as more time passed his dick began to shrivel and his nuts became dessicated and increasingly tiny. Finally just this past year the situation had deteriorated to the point that what were once his somewhat below average male genitals (let's not lie about these things here) had become a hideous little mess, looking akin to a broken toothpick trapped in a dust bunny.

Mick thought this was due to a remedy he had tried to cure erectile dysfuntion comprised of a mixture of burnt onion, mustard, & ketchup, in dill pickle juice. He rubbed it on his member and it had good effect except every time he passed a McDonald's he got a hard-on. He tried to sue for this but after engaging Mudcat attorney Richard Bridge he soon gave up. He told Richard the problem and Richard talked for 94 and a half hours non-stop using words heretofore unknown and unused in the language. Mick was dumbfounded, or perhaps just dumb but thanked Richard for the advice whereupon Richard talked for another 67 hours in some language which although sounding like English could not be identified by a panel of language experts to be anything but "utter and pure gibberish."

Mick continued to believe that the sorry state of affairs that had once represented his manhood had been taken by the use of a bad poltice. But at the Getaway this year, the truth was revealed to him. Bill D. had rescued and saved the Special Spud all these many years and presented it to Big (but now incredibly shriveled and small) Mick. When he looked in the bag, the truth was apparent. What remained of the tater was an exact replica of what remained of his genitals. I guess the Special Spud had some weird Voodoo-like powers and as it wilted, shriveled, and turned into fluff, so did Mick's three piece set.

I think this is what triggered Mick into joining the Horse Show. He may have griped and complained, but he really wanted that costume. I can see now his plan as I watch the tape. Notice where the head seems to come out?   Mick.....Buddy......Please man......It ain't gonna' work out for you. Give it up. The most some woman will do is give you a few "pets." Trust me, no sane woman is going to want anything the size of that horse head coming "near her".......if you get my drift.

Sorry to have to tell this sad story Mick, but the truth must be told before innocents are hurt. Should you want to sue me for slander though, I guess I can understand. However, I do need to inform you that your attorney, the afforementioned Richard Bridge, is undergoing treatment at the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed. Actually he's not in the main NYCFTTS per se, but over in the new wing where he's being treated in the James Taylor Catatonic Blandness Rehab Clinic. I hear he's likely to be there a good while as his is a rough case, perhaps the worst they have ever seen including James Taylor himself. Amazing huh? That's like boredom to the 90th power. I understand that as part of the treatment he's to interpret the complete works and words of Roger Gall without repeating himself.

Spaw:

It's nice to know that at least one of the Elders hasn't lost his, er, touch...so to speak.

But there is one flaw in your tale. If magic based on parallel structures, such as the Magic Spud, can work voodoo, why should putting one's ruined parts into a vibrant, healthy horse, not work the magic in reverse, undo the decay and restore Mick to vibrant, upstanding manhood? Answer me that.

Of course, we all realize that Mick, in his desperation, did not use a healthy, vibrant horse. He used a synthetic, a thin imitation of flimsy fabric, supported by hot air and cheap batteries. So, maybe it did work after all.

Fortunately, some of us are immune to voodoo sympathetic magic influences. Don't ask why.

And I have heard that Sir Mick has, in the interim, found OTHER means of complete restoration, involving spring peach pits, and he will be soon posting a much more satisfying video of his on YouTUbe, to undo the embarassment that the Great Duck Dogie and Flamingo Roundup has caused him. A remersdy, I might add, suggested to him by none other than the eldest son of Borat Sagdiyev, the Kazakh.

I wish him every success.

Well spotted, Ella.

That was indeed (not a, but THE) Micca, and myself, recreating a diver's airpump in a vain attempt, via sympathetic magic, to reinflate Big Mick's . . . er . . . frontal attachment, which was visibly deflating and seemed unlikely to last the song. I hope he's grateful for our efforts - just imagine what Spaw would have said if Mick had ended the song with his horse collapsed around his ankles.

As one of those amazing flamingo's -- and I'm still waiting to hear from Mary Lamarca who took one home to use in her Wayne Newton act straight from the falmingo club -- I'd have to say that it's probably very lucky that all of the camera men apper to have been too busy valiently trying to hold the camera steady and not shake with laughter to bother with any zoom ins of individual behavior.

Mick it could have been a whole lot worse. At least we love you.

Strange but true: the SPUD was on display at BillD's table which explains a serious drop in this year's sales.

I was a duck or a stork this year, not really sure which. No more! It is time for someone else to pick up the torch and run with it. But try not to set anyone afire.

There are still some horse and duck costumes available at $10/each. Money goes to the Getaway scholarship and Pene Azul funds.
