The Indiana Fiddlers' Gathering will be in Battle Ground (just north of Lafayette) June 22-24. It's great fun, with good music on stage, workshops and plenty of jam sessions. You can find more info at: Bailiff's Hollow will have a tent somewhere under the trees in the park, and any Mudcatters are more than welcome to drop by and teach us some new licks.

I went to the Fiddlers' Gathering in '90 and '91 and had a great time. Other than the great atmosphere and wonderful acts, my strongest memory involves a fiddler - a festival regular (I think he was involved in putting the festival on, because he sure knew about everybody and everything) talking to me and giving me a tape of a previous festival that had come from a soundboard patch. I wonder if he's still around.

If you can make it to this festival, go!

In interest of self-promotion, I should point out that the same weekend features the Indiana State Fiddle Contest in Petersburg. I hope to contend in old-time banjo and "old-time vocals," whatever they are. Those interested should contact me or call Prides Creek Park for details. Better still, try to attend both events.
