Any shanty lovers in the area, this Saturday 22nd July at Faversham Nautical Festival the HogEye Men will perform sets at 12 Noon and 5:00pm while the Rom Shanty Crew will be on from 3:00 to 4:00pm. Nearly three hours of shanties and sea songs altogether. On the Front Brents stage, next to the Albion pub.

If there were a shanty crew to avoid, it would either be these or maybe Hard Pressed (to whom I refer as "Pressed Flowers". Joe Stead must be spinning in his grave.

Well, just got back from singing at Faversham Nautical Festival. Weather stayed dry most of the time, with just a couple of downpours towards the end. Nice audience and a friendly atmosphere, with lots of sailing ships moored in Faversham Creek.
The afternoon was spoiled, however, by the shocking news that the man who had organised all the entertainment (including us), Doug Wake, had died the previous day. We offer our sincere condolences to his family. Suddenly, shanty singing didn't seem so important.
R.I.P. Doug Wake.

Garry.
