BS: Facebook acting up!

If I try to type a general message, or a reply to someone, most of the text disappears, leaving incomprehensible bits which can't be edited. Any solutions?

Interesting. I was having similar problems with it yesterday. I couldn't figure out a solution- it just went away.

Solutions? Sure. Don't use Farcebook. Problem solved.

Funny guy, Greg F.

But Greg, how would I look at grandchildren pictures without Facebook?

As much use as a chocolate teapot.

Yep, that about sums it up.

Farcebook that is.

News items you don't want, like the name of the winner rather than generic "xyz event today..." Birthday announcements from friend of friend of friend's brother you can't switch off. Smiling cats. Cranes that fall over. Meals eaten. Still, it has revealed one far right folkie I can happily avoid. And therein lies its insidious side!

My FB account is to collect info on Folk events, and even from organisers, that is pretty sparse.

It was a simple request. No need for the idiots to come out of the woodwork. If you can't make a civilised reply then shut the #### up.

If there was 'Like' button on Mudcat then I would 'Like' Alex s's last post.

Facebook doesn't let you view much of the content without logging in, and when you do log in it tracks your use. Which is why I have decided never to use it.

On my tablet the FB text box is so small that I often type the message in a different programme/app/email/whatever then
copy all > paste into FB > post

... I wonder if doing it quickly would get it posted before bits disappeared ?

FB does have a feedback page , if no category quite suits pick 'other'
Might not do any good, except making you feel better
On the other hand they can't look at something they don't know about.

You must have upset someone there: no Facebook at all this morning - "Can't find server" - on all my devices!

Isn't there a facebook users' forum somewhere where this sort of question would get an informed answer? I had a quick google and couldn't find one. I found a Q&A forum and a 'community' page(?) in facebook itself, but not being a member myself I couldn't get into them?

A forum outside facebook would be better, perhaps, so that 'unofficial' solutions could be aired. I know from reading the userstyles.org forum that facebook don't like people changing the way their site works.

Mudcat pages include Google tracking links. So no difference there.

My problem with Facebook is that it has no memory. You can't continue a discussion that started nearly 20 years ago as you can on Mudcat. And often there is still something worthwhile to add after that long.

Easy-peasy. Get photo prints in the postal mail; & when you get 'em, put 'em in a album. Look at 'em any time you want.

Doesn't need electricity, either!

We were getting "can't find server" when replying to e-mails (Gmail) spooky.
RtS
PS I agree with Greg F: after I lost a lot of photos when a hard drive fried, I select best to print and put in album.

Or, if you're going the authentic Luddite route, hire a portrait artist to paint them and have them delivered by a guy on a horse. Doesn't require mechanical things or fossil fuel engines.

Jack, Google tracking links can't track if you ember Ghostery in your browsers.

Don't think there are any portrait miniature artist left, Jeri. Besides, ya can't get ivory any more.

It came back on soon after my post above on the 12th. Gone again this morning: "can't find server". Everything else working including Mudcat!

This problem is harder than it sounds. I put photos i want to share on a separate site and then often post a facebook link. Nut people are uaed to the Facebook way of doong things they often don't realise and are only away of the single.picture fb shows, nit the whole album. So more than once i have wndwd up posting them to facebook as well.

Ans of coirse that os me swnding photos. The parents/friends of the grandchild would have to do the same.

Putting an exclamation mark first seems to solve the problem. How strange.
