I don't know if Johnny is well known outside of Europe, but he is a wonderful performer and has been a stalwart on the UK folk circuit for as long as I can remember (which is a long time!).

See this site (his agent) for news of his progress.

Johnny, sending you a huge positive vibe, generated by those wonderful days, back in the 60s when you appeared frequently at Chelmsford Folk Club. May all that energy that flowed through your veins then, revisit you now,
                                                             Nigel.

Johnny Silvo cross the seas
Nigel's covering thy medical fees for thee
Oh - you - we never more will see
Bonny sailing ... Silvo.

Bloody cancer! One of our folk club members has just beaten it, only for another member to be diagnosed with it! Cancer Research UK is one of the few charities I donate to, in the hope that one day they'll come up with the 'magic bullet'. There are new drugs appearing every year and a lot of cancers are now curable thanks to new advances. Johnny has been our guest a few time and is always really positive and full of energy. That's half the battle - the other half is decent healthcare which I'm sure he's receiving. So best wishes Johnny and get well soon!

Just picked up this thread - sorry to hear Johnny is not well.
He's been coming to our festival and club for as long as I can remember and he seems to to better each year. I know I can speak for all the members of Irvine Folk Club and your many friends in and around Irvine (Ayrshire ,Scotland)in wishing you "A' the best".
