It's today, the 26th. The time difference between the US and the UK, makes it look like it was the 25th.

Same day as my sister-in-law! (Great memnomic.)

Happy B.D., Bente!

Don't forget to celebrate for at least a month -- oh, go ahead and celebrate right into January!

We'll raise a toast a little later in the day.

Gary, I'm fine and Skip sends me nice messages. Bente's birthday is always a right slap-up re-union and make no mistake.

By the way I forgot how nice it was to type electric words to you on the computer. Or rather, the keyboard.

Wow! Thanks for all the b'day wishes everybody!

I had a great day, initially busy with baking for the expected influx and having to deal with several phone calls in between. Then one load of visitors, my remaining aunts and uncles, and after they left a friend stopped by for some tea and remaining cake (another had to cancel due to workload, but I'll see her some other time).

Milloup did have a few scraps of cake, I know, although my uncles think I didn't see them being snuck under the table.. And he managed to roll onto his back and drop off the legrest of the sofa into a 20 cm crevice between sofa and wall. Emerged from there with slightly dented ego, I think :o)

Today it's nose back to the grindstone, but I've still got homemade Danish pastry and apple pie :-)

Please, Micca and Laurel, can I have rum and coke or Jägertea instead of akvavit? I loathe the stuff. You can have my share.. :o))

Best wishes,

Bente

Bente, you can haaaave a Rum 'n'Coke or whatever pleases you!! some t5ime try this, this is the "original" Cuba Libre recipe lerned in Trinidad 40+years ago
2 ounces of Dark Rum (preferably Demerara, for me)
1 ounce of Lime Juice
10 Ounces of Coca Cola
Lots of ice in a large glass
slice of Lime to garnish
pour ingredients over the ice and stir (a British pint beer mug works well for this as it has enough room to contain all)
It is one of the most refreshing drinks on a warm summer evening but is too easy to drink and can lead to confusion and falling down

Thank you, Rags, I hope you're doing fine up there in Canuckistan :-)

'Can lead to confusion and falling down..', hmmmm..., where's Dave Earl when you need him..? ;-))

*dives for cover

Not many in the UK seem to know what Jägertea is. At Bedworth two years ago I felt strongly like one on a cool night, so asked at the bar we were in at the time. They had no idea. I tried to explain - Tea, sugar and dark rum.. Blank stares. So, I ordered a mug of tea and a dark rum per se, intending to mix my own. Tea arrived, they'd added MILK!!! Ok, eventually they got the point and brought me a mug of black tea, so I could have my Jägertea.

Sorry for lateness Bente but glad you had a good one.

And for those concerned for my uprightness I am here and sober (for the moment ) and won't be falling over for a while yet

Poor Dave, too much wo** and too little drink will bring a man to those extremes, I suppose ;-)

I always thought Jägertea (or Jagatee) was something Bavarian/Austrian - is this a danish tradition too, Bente?

It is now.. I picked up the 'tradition' on a trip to Austria back in 1985 :-) Loooong time ago.. But I like it a lot!
