I wonder if anyone knows where and when this song originated. I was surprised when it's neither in the DT nor in previous discussions.

COMING 'ROUND THE MOUNTAIN is in the DT. The song has been discussed in several threads. On "When the Chariot Comes", see Lyr Req: She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain (with my link to the earliest record).

and could anyone that was there forget Skarpis memorable rendition of this song in Icelandic at the Sunday Concert at the Getaway 2005? especially the slow dawning of recognition as he launched into the chorus?

Thank you very much -its all I needed to know. I'm not sure why searches involving a phrase like coming round etc. wasnt found in the forum archives when I searched, especially with the number of threads about it.

I dunno. Just tried a search for "Coming Round" and got lots of hits. Also worked for "Coming 'Round" and "Coming Round the Mountain".

Thread 4947 perhaps has the most information, and a set of links to other threads and the versions in the DT, if you need more.
Thread 4947: She ll be coming

Joe Offer recommends that lower case letters be used in searches.
Since this is just a discussion on how to search for the song, I'm going to close this thread and suggest that the discussion continue in She ll be coming .
    Thanks.
    -Joe Offer-
