My sister won and is sending me a Samsung YP-T8 Z MP3 player. According to reviews, it also voice-records. Has anyone here used one to catch music? Know anything else about it?

~Susan

You won't like it...MUCH too complicated for a simple girl like you. You'd best send it on to me and I'll struggle with it....☺

Oh, I get multifuntuated myself sometimes....have to listen to some music on an MP3 player to get over it.

(yeah..$140-$180 or so... it will be fun..)

And I just HAPPEN to have a few MP3s that need to be reviewed.

"Multifuntuated." Innit a GREAT word?!?!?

It arrived this morning. I had to go fetch it from the post office-- sis was smart and insured it.

It IS indeed "multifuntuated" and I have got the dangly bits plugged in correctly to charge it (instrux sez 3 hours). It has a sample MP3 pre-loaded which I can play while it's charging, so I guess it also can be played off wall power through the charger to save battery life?

The sound is amazing. How can it sound so BIG while being SO TINY????

I thought it would be bigger-- it's about the size of a business card.

Multifuntually,

~Susan

Don't touch it.
It's covered in dangerous magic...and things.
Best just pick it up with the bar-b-que tongs and ship it to me.
And don't send it to Bill, for some reason I'll think up later.
These are not the droids you are looking for...

LOL. It's the "things" I'm most interested in!

Although the "charging" symbol does kinda look like a pipe bomb full of Kryptonite! :~)

Maybe I'll call the device "Mothra". :~)

My only negative about this unit so far is that I can't figure out how to attach the neck strap. I need to wash dishes, start dinner and do laundry while wearing the unit, so I switched from the earbuds that don't fit me well to a regular headphone, but the book of instrux is not quite as clear as an old low-tech geezer like me would like. However, the unit's function is pretty intuitive as most new tech stuff is these days, so I'm not having ANY trouble playing tunes-- including BANJO tunes.

Yesterday in about an hour and a half I was able to review several hundred potential Christmas pieces for our band. My puder had mysteriously renamed these files as being all copies of the same song title, adding a number for each one. The scrolling viewscreen text is plenty big enough to see. If I had been tied to the puder for this my ankles would have been the size of Maryland, but I was able to work on taking the necessary notes in comfort and with great sound to catch fuzzy lyrics. The next challenge is to get that neck strap attached and to use the unit to hear and learn the material I'll keep from that folder.

I did learn right off that folders make my life easier with this unit-- it's easier to swap in or out a whole folder when working on a project, than to handle individual songs. For instance, I might want to work on Christams music in the AM and be able to go back to it the next AM, while wanting to listen to radio stories or lend it to Hardi for recording a meeting in the evening. Folders make that simple.

It records well enough to catch a song to learn-- just what I wanted-- and can be transferred to PC as MP3. So, better for me than a minidisk recorder. (In fact it picked up not only voice and autoharp as I ran through a new arrangement, it caught the TV in the background aimed in the opposite direction.) I can at least make practice tracks now for band members to practice with.

This thing is awexome. I mean, it's a nano-killer. Everything the Nano has, and some it hasn't, are packed in here.
