The juxtaposition I got was Who designs new Pipes.
I don't play them myself but have loved them since childhood.
Is there anywhere we might hear you play Shields Folk?
(I am also a N.S. resident)

I'm just learning at the mo Purple Foxx but as soon as I can play a couple of tunes there is a pub in Shields where I think I could see my self sitting in a corner playing for my own amusement (and hopefully others)

So who have you ordered them from?
Colin has a long waiting list - have you hired a set to get started already?
Good luck. You certainly live in the right place to get professional help.

Colin Ross?
chances are I'd be dead before he could of made them. I'm getting them from a bloke called Dave McQuade. But yes I'm in an excellent place from support. I spoke to an old friend two weeks ago, he told me he had always wanted to play the smallpipes. Anyway I told him of the NSP society and saw him yesterday and he has joined, gotten a loan set and had a free lesson from Colin Ross himself.

Well done.
Colin is very helpful.
Have you been to the bagpipe museum at Morpeth?
And go to the NSP Soc meetings as well.
I wish I could but I'm halfway around the world - in NZ!
Cheers.
Robyn

You dont want me there man, my piping at the moment can only be described as close to attempting to force feeding medicine to a cat

If you want tuitition, try the Caedmon classes at the Sage, run by Folkworks. Anthony Robb tutors beginners pipes, not only is he a superb piper, but also a first class tutor. There are also other classes on and you can do two different classes in an evening.

For more information click here

Probably the best thing at the moment is to get on the mailing list as the present term is nearing its end and a new term will be starting after Easter. PM me if you want to know more.

Good luck, Shields Folk. The pipes are such a wonderful instrument and you can just sit and look at how pretty they are when you're not practising. Trouble is, when I got a hire set, that's all I did!

The classes at the sage look good, I wanted to start the whistle class last year but I missed the start. Perhaps I could do both next term.
One thing I would like to do is play the pipes with other pipers so the sage could be a good start.
