WOMAN IN AUDIENCE: 'I don't really understand. How is the new plan going to fix the problem?'

Verbatim response: PRESIDENT BUSH:

'Because the -- all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers. For example, how benefits are calculated, for example, is on the table. Whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those -- changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be -- or closer delivered to that has been promised. Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the -- like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate -- the benefits will rise based upon inflation, supposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. For maximum contrast, see the writings of Robert B. Reich. Everything I've read by him is of exemplary clarity and logic. I suppose it comes from years of teaching economics. Oh, yes, he's very liberal. And very short.

GOT IT.

WOMAN IN AUDIENCE: 'I don't really understand. How is the new plan going to fix the problem?'

Verbatim response: PRESIDENT BUSH:

'Because the -- all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers [he has Dinky toys before him]. For example, how benefits are calculated, for example, is on the table [some benefits are also before him on the table]. Whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases [wage increases and price increases are the SAME THING]. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered [he has a Dinky toy race car, Indie-type car before him]. And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those -- changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be [pass the joint over here, Dick]-- or closer delivered to that has been promised [someone ordered a pizza]. Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the [TAPE UNCLEAR HERE--it may have been "Pass the fu#kin' joint for the second time, SDick" or "Man. this is really good grass".]-- like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate -- the benefits will rise based upon inflation [imagine if you will a hot air balloon], supposed to wage increases [he missed sentence construction the day they taught it in school]. There is a reform that would help solve the red [likely a reference to Russia, they being known as reds to his Dad's generation] if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those -- if that growth is affected, it will help on the red [detente is important to world peace, so we are going to help Russia].'

OK, I understand it now. The rest of you lot, just eat yer hearts out.

he's obviously not very good at explaining things - but you'd think that would be a requisite of the job.
did he talk like this before he got the job, perhaps its all got too much for him.

either way, an awful lot of blame must devolve upon the democrats for choosing a candidate who couldn't be more impressive than this bloke.

Yes, he is not that great of a speaker. But he still was able to win or keep pace with Kerry in the debates and did well enough in them. Not everyone can be a perfect speaker all of the time. Many who are usually are the best at bullshitting and lip service.

I just wanted to know what he meant. I have a deep personal concern with what's being done with Medicare. And, by the way, a direct quote isn't hearsay, regardless of what they teach journalism minors.

And, by the way, as someone who's been a registered Republican since the early 60s, I'm curious as to what you mean by my "radical lifestyle".

You have not given any credit for where your so-called direct quote is from, Gashouse. You seem to not be much of a reporter. Your post is hearsay and holds no water. It is meaningless.

Amos, you have absolutely zero proof of what you say either. Just rant/hate, rant/hate, rant/hate, rant/hate, etc.

You also are completely negative biased and cannot be taken seriously. You have no rational thought on the matter, because day after day you show how irrational you are.

So let's see what kind of swear words and childish insults you come up with next. You see, Amos. You really are not one of Mudcat's more refreshing minds. Just a tired same old, same old rant, that's all. Why don't you bail for a while, pal and not make everyday here like a rerun on TV Land?

Not only can GWB not string together a coherent sentence, but neither could his father. I've long thought that Yale University should lose its accreditation over the lousy way these two alumni mangle the English language. Yale has graduated a fair number of brilliant writers and speakers over the years, it should never have let these guys slip through.

Furthermore, I don't recall using any swear words or personal insults in this thread, unless calling you a journalism minor counts as such. And I get your name right when I use it.

Dick Greenhaus:

You'll have to cut Martin some slack. The RW "spinners" and sycophants are having a rough time of it nowadays, and are prone to irritation at the fact their incompetency, crimes, and frauds are becoming blindingly obvious. They see the house of cards starting to tumble down, and are a bit paniced at the prospect that they will be the laughing stock for decades (if not amongst those that are imprisoned). And you'll have to excuse Martin's lack of scholarship; he's been told for quite a while that the only "truth" he needs to pay attention to comes from the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity ... and Scottie McClellan. It's rather sad, but they dug their own hole, so my sympathy for them is in somewhat sholrt supply.

Cheers,

He's a very poor speaker, ok. He's hard to follow & his grammer is some what below average ok, we know that too & that his command on the english langauge isn't as great as his peers but so what, doesn't mean he shouldn't speak. And it true many times he just doesn't make sense. And it's ok that he doesn't know how government works "The legislature's job is to write law. It's the executive branch's job to interpret law" (quote, Austin, Texas 11/22/00). Yes & it's ok too if he not sure of where he comes from "I was raised in the West. The west of Texas. It's close to California. In more ways than Washington, DC, is close to California." (quoted in the LA Times 4/8/00). And it's understandable while under the pressures of a debate that some statements sounds unbeliveable "I think if you know what you believe, it makes it a whole lot easier to answer questions. I can't answer your question" (in response to a question about whetherhe wished he could take back any of his answers in the 1st debate, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; 10/4/00). Yes this is all well & good & it's ok coming from a 4th grader, BUT NOT FROM THE LEADER OF OUR NATION.
Disclaimer:
All of the above quotes are exact.

Dick Gashouse, the second part of my post was directed to Amos, not you regarding swear words. That is obvious if you read what I wrote and not in such a huff and puff to rant. The quote is not credible and just comes across as your far left liberal agenda. It serves no purpose except to be a subject of a rant of yours. bitching everyday like the likes of you, bobert, Arne/Acne, and a few others do has not solved any problems, just shows how much you hate one man.

Acne, I mean Arne, I do not listen to Limbaugh or Hannity. I do not need to for good info on who the old doper hippie misfits are. You come through as one loud and clear. Isn't it time you got lilly high again and pretended you were in 1969 or something? Far out, Arne. the revolution will not be televised. Neither will your life or comments. The plot is way too thin and is a rerun.

Martin Gibson:

Acne, I mean Arne,...

Whatcha gonna do when I don't cry, Martin? Go home to your momma and tell her that someone's being mean to you?

I do not listen to Limbaugh or Hannity.

Then you're in even worse shape that I imagined. It's clear you don't actually read any of the fewer and fewer credible sources of news. All well and fine with me, Martin, you can go back to your Weekly Reader now.

As for the rest of your ad hominem dribble, I'd say you'd be better served learning to click on blue clickies and typing in words in the Google search box than in continuing to attempt to insult me. Is that clear?

One thing of note: You seem to have dismissed the Dubya quote as being so egregious ("The quote is not credible") that it had to have been manufactured. I'd say that if it came as a surprise to you, you certainly haven't been paying attention. But now that you know, maybe time for a re-evaluation of your assumptions, eh?

Cheers,
