The idea behind this is to have a bit of music trivia for the date that you post... for example:

Today in 1971, Don McLean's 8+ minute version of "American Pie" released

(and it unfortunately has yet to stop playing.....)

Hey a new record for me.... causing thread creep within one minute of a new topic!

It is one of those songs that my duo really dislikes doing, but always gets requests for (see also: Hotel California, The Gambler). It's a personal thing...

B.

I didn't like "American Pie" the *first* time I heard it, and have made it a point never to learn it.

On this day in 1965 The Beatles released 'Day Tripper / We Can Work It Out' as a double A side. It became their 9th UK No.1 and their third Christmas chart topper in a row. It hit the US No.1 spot in Jan 1966.

On this day in 1991, Chubby Checker filed a lawsuit against McDonald's in Canada seeking $14,000 million for its alleged use of an imitation of his voice on 'The Twist', in a french fries commercial.

Those silly enough?

Today would have been Ludwig van Beethoven's 234th birthday (1770). Not very silly I'm afraid but pop music in his own time.

1955 Carl Perkins wrote Blue Suede Shoes

What is deciding the date? If I post at 0100 GMT is that yesterday or today (on reflection, depending on how you look at it, it could be tomorrow from where you are)

Eastern Standard Time not Erhard Seminar Training I hope.

I used to go out with a girl who had had some things to do with the latter - all very weird. One of these things where you got locked into a room with a group of other people who had paid a large wodge of cash to find their inner self and take total responsibility for EVERYTHING in their lives. (And I mean everything. I got a bit lost at the stage where you need to accept that YOU are responsible for who your parents are. Compared with that all the wetting yourself as you were denied egress from the room paled into insignificance).

Werner is probably a very rich man pissing himself with laughter all the way to the bank.
