This is so true. If you can't find a job in the USA......it's YOUR fault. Period.

LET'S TALK ABOUT "YOUR" JOBS
Nealz Nuze ^ | Wednesday, February 18, 2004 | Neal Boortz

Posted on 02/18/2004 5:12:57 AM PST by beaureguard

Jobs .. and the economy. Those seem to be the issues that are driving many, if not most, of those who are supporting the Kerry candidacy.

First of all ... I'm going to repeat this simply because it makes the whiners so unbelievably angry. Listen up. They're not your jobs! The jobs belong to the employers .. not to you! You have job skills and, presumably, a willingness to work. Your task in a free economy is to get out there and find some employer with a job who needs your skills ... and strike a deal.

Seems like a perfect place to post a song I just wrote:

The Over 50, Job Huntin' Blues

Well I'm now way over 50
And I'll work for any wage.
I'm now way over 50
And I'll work for any wage.
All the good jobs have been taken
By people who are half my age.

They said, "Come back on Tuesday,
We just might have something then."
"Come back here on Tuesday,
We just might have something then."
But when Tuesday rolled around, I tell ya,
They said same damned thing again.

I showed them my diploma;
Showed them letters, one, two, three.
Showed them my diploma,
Showed them letters, one, two, three.
But all they had to say was,
"Hm-m, these make no mention of our specialty."

"You see, we take pride in our product.
Only the best can make it well.
We take pride in our product.
Only the best can make it well.
So if you've never flipped a burger…"
I told him, "You go straight to hell!"

So I guess I'll keep on lookin'
I've gotta pay the rent some kinda way.
I guess I'll keep on lookin'
I've gotta pay the rent some kinda way.
But if I don't find something soon,
My Atkins diet'll be blown away.

I would comment further, and may later, but right now I can't believe anyone would write this crap unless it is meant to be satire...

No whine, just fact...

Congratulations, whiners. At a time when America if fighting World War IV, the war against Islamic terrorism ... you're going to vote for a candidate who wants to treat terrorism as a freaking law enforcement problem because you've made some pitiful jobs choices. Pitiful.

Yeah, that tactic is gonna win over a lot of voters. Keep it up, tar_heel. You're probably helping the opposition more than you know.

well considering i have been practically unemployed for almost sseven months now and haven't found a fucking job...this post is in very poor taste...yes it is my fucking fault MSN went to other countries (cheaper) inluding India, my fucking fault I had a job for three weeks and they let me go for being late or absent due to car trouble (there is no public transport in my area and the job was 30-40 miles away) the last day in fact they sent me home because they did not like my shoes. (it was a customer service position where you don't even see the customer)...my fucking fault that I send off an average of 7 resumes a week and still not find a job. my fucking that while I have experience I do not have the certifications or degrees. (i could never afford to get them) my fucking fault that I don't have the experience to do things outside my job expertise. My fucking fault that I am desperate for a job that I would be willing to do anything. My fucking fault I will not work for less than 8.50 dollars, why do that when I get that much through unemployment?

Fuck you.

Great song Allan C

Only problem is that in Australia, they don't even want 50 yr olds ay all - the junior wages are cheaper. This caused a hassle when the young kid taking the taking to the bank after hours was mugged, and told he would have to pay back the money - the judge deemed that since he was a minor, he was not legally liable, further the judge pointed out that giving a minor the level of responsiblity of a manager just didn't fit with Austalian law - they could do it, but they could not legally enforce any liabililty thru the courts cause he was a minor... apart from the fact that Aussie law does not hold with making him responsibile for the financial loss - to do with vicarous responsibility and other things...

I have a job but it doesn't pay a living wage; I work 12-hour-plus days so I can't schedule classes to further my training (at least, not without dropping hours and taking a big bite out of my already-sorry paycheck, and risking my job), and if my boss finds out I'm thinking of looking for a better job he'll find an excuse to fire me. He gives me an "insurance allowance" in place of a health plan, which covers about half my health insurance, and the money he gives me goes on my paycheck, too, so I have to pay taxes on it even though I'm a full-time employee. I don't dare ask for a raise; he's already riding all of us about profits, profits, profits. Never mind that he has a brand-new $30,000 pickup truck, five pet horses, gives all of his buddies huge discounts (or outright freebies), and goes on vacation three or four times a year.

Furthermore, from what I understand, it is crappy dead-end jobs like mine that make up the bulk of the "job growth" about which Dubya's been crowing. Lot of damned good it does the rest of us.

Hey, bottom line, America is becoming the latest Third World nation. It's workers are being asked to compete with workers who if they make $30 a day, they can live like royalty, or at least a lot better than the folks around them. American workers are using increased debt to keep their heads above water. They work harder and longer than any so called industrisal nation. They get less vacation. Less money. Less health care. Less, less and more less..

If Tar Heel and his buddies think this is cool then sahme on them. There will come a time when the absolute greed of the ruling class will jus' implode on them. But that is their folly. They are either gonna share one way or another. Every other industrialized nation has figured out how to share its wealth with its working class except this one. Darned shame.

Is this your brand of Christianity, tar heel? Not mine...

Yeah, you amy feel all smug in yer little world but, rest assured my frined, if you and yer buddies keep this up, the working class will get around to making ammends. You can take that to the bank.

See you and yer pals in the streets...

Well tar heel you sure are a big bad boss but a teacher...? Pity those that pay for your reading assignments. Just another example of the so-called educated, blaming the disenfranchised for daring to complain.

I thought it was the responsibility of the govt. to take care of its people, especially access to education and health care. Unfortunately, the govt seems to think it is responsible for the economy. That your job, Mr.Business! If you do your job, then maybe the govt. can get back to doing what they are elected to do. Even if that means taxing the fat cats and protecting the environment so that there will be resources for future generations.

If we don't want to buy your brands, we wont. If you want to set-up sweatshops in other countries, go for it. We will boycott you right into the poorhouse. Maybe then you will get it.

It may be your job but it takes a human being to fill it. You want the job done right? Do it yourself (can you?) or hire someone qualified to do it. You get what you pay for!

I'm very surprised that someone of your obvious political acuity doesn't know this, but U.S. productivity has been rising while your buddy Bush has been promising more jobs. He's raised productivity by inflating growth with artificially low interest rates, by allowing jobs to be exported, by "stimulating" demand by mortaging the future, by allowing employers of eight million people to force them to work without overtime pay. I don't think that overtime law changes are necessarily a bad thing. But Bush is way out of line to give his tax cuts credit. I don't sound like a lib? Do I? Fiscally, I'm a conservative. Fiscally George Bush spends like a drunken frat boy with daddy paying the bills.

If you want the income from your early retirement to last well into your old age, Vote Democrat!

And they tell me we've lost more jobs under Bush than under anyone since Hoover.

Do you think all those people in the US just magically got lazy all at the same time?

Over the last decade or two corporate CEO's wages as compared to the people working for them has increased several hundred percent-- I forget just how much: you can check.

Do you think the CEOs suddenly started to work several times as many hours in the day?

Intersting point about CEO's. Bush has led very much like a CEO who doesn't understand that his company went public for some quick cash, that he has responsibilities to the shareholders to act in the interest of the company, and will get his ass canned for his disregard. Bush was elected by the narrowest possible of margins but has been dismissive and impatient with the concerns of the many who didn't vote for him. He thoroughly and perfectly deserves to be fired and I think he will be.

In U.S. business this situation was named after Armand Hammer, who was so accustomed to using company funds to indulge his hobbies he couldn't imagine that people didn't want to give him their money for nothing. It's not a coincidence that it looks like Bush jr's mode, it's just the same culture at work. This dream of power-nobility and divine right isn't just stupid and obviously childish, it's profoundly un-American. The conservatives who subscribe to it aren't usually very bright or informed ones, just impressionable people who like the smell of successful people's butts. Employers are not free to do whatever they want with jobs, the jobs don't quite belong to them, because that would be, um, slavery, nor are these people free from being criticized when they act without any basic civic decency, whether it's legal or not.

I'm very much ashamed, but my opinion is also a cut-and-paste job.

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

"Before he enter on the execution of his office, he shall take the following oath or affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.""

I see no relation between the current president and either of these two quotations.

But nowhere in the Constitution does it say that the President is reponsible for ensuring that each individual is gainfully employed.

Yes, the editorial is harsh, and probably written by someone whose only purpose in writing is to elicit strong reactions from readers. Neal Boortz is a talk radio host, if that gives you any clues.

But let's look at this a little deeper. What I got out of it is that it isn't the President's fault (no matter who the President happens to be at the time) if you don't have a job. I don't believe it's necessarily yours. Indeed, the individual does bear the responsibility of looking for a job, and keeping up the skills necessary to get a job. But even that doesn't ensure employment. There are other factors at play, most notably the local economy.

If there are no jobs to be had where you live, that's not your fault. And it's not the President's fault, either. The President is an easy target because he's the one in front, but the people behind him, i.e., the House and the Senate, and the State governments, all have some culpability when it comes to issues of economics. And I use the term President in general - not necessarily referring to George Bush.

tar_heel,

I have heard many people who brag about how hard they worked to get where they are, how much they scraped to get what they got, etc. Good for you. But you are a presumptive person to make the assumption that anyone who wants a job will find one. That's bu!!sh!t. People with certain types of physical challenge can't find work. People who haven't had the benefit of education sometimes can't. Many people sometimes can't through no fault of their own. You come off as a real asshole when you spout that kinda crap. I have a university education mostly because I was lucky. I was the first person in the entire history of my family--and take that back as many generations as you'd care to--to become educated past the high school level. I would be ashamed of myself if I ever said that "just because I could do it so can anyone else who really wants to." That just ain't so. Stow your rants, OK? You are coming across as a fu#kin' idiot.

And while I'm at it, the word "bu!!sh!t" in the second line above is a common concrete noun. The word "asshole" in the fourth line is the same. The word "fu#cin'" in the last line is an adjective. The fact that I use the words doesn't mean I don't know others. And, I wanted you to know that I know what parts of speech they are. I do not like people who take cheap shots just for the helluvit. Kim C. - I think we might have the same idea regarding the "job market". Whose fault is it anyway? Seems to me the economy should not really need "stimulation" if business people were really capable of providing the goods and services required by the market.

...but talk about whiners! What do you call those people called lobbyists? What about subsidies and grants to businesses? What about the tax breaks? Somebody is sure doing alot of whining!

Maybe when they decided that church and state should be separate, they should also have included corporations as being outside the mandate of good government. Maybe it can still be done.

No one gonna point out that cowardess is misspelled? I figured by now . . . . Sorry about the rant, folks. Had to get it off my chest. And tar_heel, I didn't mean to offend you any more than you meant to offend me.

Another aspect of this discussion that has not been brought up is the rampant *cheating* that is going on in the US. It used to be that if you got your education and played by the rules you would most likely succeed. No more. The message that is coming thru loud and clear is that you have to cheat. The political leaders cheat. The CEO's cheat.

This does not bode well for the country as more and more folks are thinking that cheating is part of being successful...

Ahhhhh, just food for thought...

Martin, people are not whining, there's been one rough comment, but be grateful for it--this is the only thing you can form any kind of response to.

One time at the park a family got out with their doberman, which ran directly to my very small kids, who were scared and began climbing me. I said call your dog. Three times. The man looked at me. I said call your motherfucking dog you pissant I'll kill the fucking thing and beat you with the carcass you cocksucking shithead. He called his dog. Then he told me he didn't appreciate the language. But it was the only one he UNDERSTOOD. Sometimes you have to come down to the level of a person, or they just sit there indefinately, scratching themselves like monkeys. As a lame-brained repetitious troll (or actually I'm almost convinced you are a real person who is like a troll but without any redeeming aesthetic awareness that you are funny) you of all people should know this. All that space of park and the guy sets his doberman loose in the kids playground. What a fuckhead.

If you and Tar Heel can't muster any sign of intelligent argument for yourselves, or just the personal courage to stand for whatever you think you think, I could do it, I've heard it enough. And I've worked with people who thought the world owed them a job, who whined about doing what they were paid to do. I've seen situations where the point could be fairly made (but the administration G.W.Bush just isn't one of them, because he sucks). But I could argue the other way, if y'all need to hire somebody to do it. Do you have a dental plan?

Two things amuse me about Tar_Heel's posts. First, coming from someone who claims to be a Christian, the first post not only admits but revels in the fact that we in the US have cheap computer mice because some poor Chinese person is kept in grinding poverty through low wages. But isn't that a sin, Tar Heel? Won't the luxury items produced by sweat shop slaves send us all to hell? Wouldn't it be better to pay 80% more for a mouse?

Second, there's the claim that many successful people make that "because I succeeded, anyone who doesn't is a whiner." This reeks of the unresolved guilt people like Tar Heel feel because they know their success was based as much on luck and advantage as on skill and hard work. The pathetic, whimpering child inside Tar Heel is so crippled by guilt over the fact that he succeeded partly because he was white, for example, that he has to whine about black people in the most racist manner (yo'face?) and claim they make more money than they deserve. Awww, poor little white boy feels discriminated against? Don't we feel sorry for you!

And, by the way, the flaw in the argument about the jobs in India is that the corporation IS doing something other than exporting information and importing modified information. It is, for example, giving money away to the Indian government in the form of its workers' taxes!

Here's what people forget: for the privilege and advantages of being a US corporation, using the US infrastructure to establish and maintain itself, and the US reputation to make clients feel like they're doing business with the best, a US corporation owes the US community (who paid for the infrastructure and established the reputation). It pays our government, which uses the money for our various needs. It's like their membership dues that they pay for using the the swimming pool and tennis courts at their country club. They pay in corporate taxes.

By outsourcing jobs, the corporation deprives the US community of dues twice: once, when the workers pay their taxes in India instead of here, and twice, when the workers who got laid off start drawing unemployment. Thus, if such companies want to keep using the US infrastructure and reputation, they need either to be good citizens and keep jobs here, or else pay more taxes to make up for their theft of services.

So the answer to "what do you do?" is to charge a tax on companies for every worker they employ overseas and apply that money to our various welfare programs. If we make the tax high enough, it will work as a deterrent, and the companies will look for other ways to keep costs down besides gouging foreign workers. If it's still profitable to gouge, at least our unemployed will have a solvent system watching their backs until they find work.

Interested? To start, I'd get off this Get a job/ I-worked-my-ass-off-to-get-my-greasy-job crap, and at least mention doing something without anybody hiring you to do it. The lone busker above trumps the two self-important jobbers, even with just a nickel in a hat. He made it himself, without kissing anybody's butt (or his own, as overpaid peons always, predictably, invariably, robotically, lord hep me I gotta kiss it again, always feel the need to do, publicly). Nobody talks about the respect due those who just do things they believe in, for big money or little. How cynical is that?
