Guest: That strikes a chord! Was many years ago. From what I could understand it concered a returning soldier searching for his love, who had fled to the mountains. Haunting melody. Said to be Stalin's favorite though I did not want to start a political discussion

Heard Afghanzis singing it in Arctic SU, but, am not versed in Ukrainian. Found it on Army chorus CD in Pechora but still no translation.
