Hey guys, we got a great buskin team practicing here this afternoon. Marion is a pleasure to play tunes with. We have her on fiddle & guitar, me on banjo and my sweetie Randy on fiddle, banjo and guitar.

We worked on Soldier's Joy, Arkensas Travelor, Red Haired Boy, Red Wing, Cripple Creek, Sourwood Mountain, Blue Eyed Miss, Liza Jane, and Devil's dream.

Soon we will be showered with the big bucks falling into our instrument cases.

Little Neo

Marion here, not Little Neo.

Everyone root for Toronto to win this level of the playoffs... not that I care about hockey, but I care about the busking potential if they win.

Why do I have this hideous image in my head of little Neo, her banjo, and a horde of drunken hockey players tossing pucks instaead of coins? You would be safer in the subway!
Enjoy, ladies. Hope you make enough to get to the Getaway!

Say, Bonnie, I wondered where you've been hiding out. Watch out for old-timey music & stuff. It can be addictive. I'd love to hear you sometime. Go for it.

And now that the Blackhawks and the Cubs are out o' contention, I'll even root for da Maple Leafs. (I think that this IS the earliest in the baseball season that the Cubs have been numerically deleted from contention. Whew, May 12th ;-)

Chicago...the land of the free, the home of the brave...and the doormat of the National League -- Steve Goodman. But then again, I grew up with the Phillies and Eagles: "On any given Sunday, any team in the league...can beat the Eagles."

Bonnie, it's good to hear that your banjo is still smokin'--and your love life, too! Way to go, girl! (Guess my playing "Over the Rainbow" on the ukulele just wasn't quite enough...)

Aloha,
Mark

Buskin' eh? Well sounds like a ton o' fun. And take Art's warning seriously. Old timey music is really addictive. And may we all never recover!

Good luck with the busking.

As for the play-offs, what play offs? I was routing for Norwich City in soccer yesterday (my mum and one of my brothers actually got to Cardiff for the game BTW). We lost on penalties after extra time - not a nice way to lose. I was lisitening to a friends band, Xim, at the time - even the band wanted updates on the score...

It sure is a comforting feeling to know there still are some of my good Mudcatter friends around the joint.

To be honest....I'm not too sure about all us guys going out buskin. Marion's the buskin babe around here.

We got together yesterday to play some tunes and I sure would love to do that again. Marion plays beautifully. I can feeling the influence of Rick Fielding and Willie-O and Cape Britain in her music.

Yes, you still have a lot of friends around here, Little Neo. I glad to hear you're happy and playing music. Don't worry about the addiction. You can quit playing Old Time Music any time you want. (You just won't want to!) I've missed your posts. All the best to you and Randy and Marion, too. Don't be a stranger. regards, Chance

Well BonAmi.......Nothin' like music and love together except it keeps you from sharing a bit more with the laggards here at the 'Cat. But better a bit than none at all and I'm glad to hear things are going well! Sounds like a fun group.

I have this little heart and horn hanging above me so I think of you daily.......BTW, it did accompany me to the hospital last June so I figure it has some good powers!

Enjoy...........and if you're coming down I-77 this summer, let me know!

Jon, I was referring to the Stanley Cup playoffs, which is a big deal in North American hockey.

Randy is very knowledgeable, rooted, and thoughtful about his music. It was interesting to compare fiddling styles between Cape Britain and West Veronica.

Now I want to learn the guitar part to Duelling Banjoes so I can play it with my new banjo buddies.

Hey..........Bonnie.............so what's the deal?..............Ain't it time for a visit to Elderly and lunch at the International Tuba Museum (No shit, folks. It's a real restaraunt and the perfect place for Mudcat lunches! Any Mudcatters that come to Elderly will be treated to a lunch there on Big Mick)? You fall in love with this amateur layabout, you don't call and schedule a checkup so's I can see if he is suitable for our Banjo Bonnie?? Bring the lad to Lansing so I can meet him and either welcome him into the clan or kick his arse.........LOL.

Miss ya, my friend.

Oh and by the way....I didn't explode my multi-track...although why it went off for twenty minutes, I haven't a clue!

Amos, you are disgusting!!!!!

:)

Catspaw, I'm so happy there is a part of me that reminds you every day that you have a heart of gold.

Russ, I would love to go to Clifftop this year. Depends on the dates. Same with Glenville & Stonewall Jackson. I'll let you know whats cooking with our plans.

Big Mick, I would love to take Randy to Elderly so we can drool over all those banjos on the wall. I'll let you know when we plan to come. Got to get the Big Mick approval for sure! This time we should co-ordinate the timing so we can say 'howdy' to all the Mudcatters on the Elderly Webpage Video Camera.

Black Walnut, how about spurging on raspberry filled milk chocolates over a grande Starbucks Soylatte.

Fortunato, it sure is a comforting feeling to know I am missed around the joint.

All you guys sure make me feel so love.

Bonnie

Bonnie, darlin' ---

How about ya make a tape of your neatest banjo picking for the Mudcat Sampler CD?

The whole story is in the threads -- you can start here with V and work back from there!

Love ya,

A

Ya, L.N., we could do that right before a SONG CIRCLE!!!

Okay, enough private referencing. Hey, everybody, L.N. and I haven't seen each other in a long long time, ever since her wonderfish departed to his little fishbowl in the sky. Which means I haven't heard her sweet banjo for a long time either.

I feel less guilty now, having just incorporated folk music into my coffee chat.

Hope to see you again real soon, Bonnie. I'll get on my best overalls and meet you in the middle....

Won't be at Mt. Airy. Friends have spoken of it very highly for years, but my vacation time is limited. WV musical events eat it all up.

Well, Russ, my friends in Roustabout talk about Clifftop, but it sounds so large, I've shied away. Is it worth braving crowds like 10,000 (?)

Ditto on Fortunato's comments. Sounds like you are having fun with your honey and your music. What a perfect combination.

Now all the three of you need is a name for your band, and a CD. When do you want us to book you for a FSGW concert down here in Washington?

Missed ya' too Neo. Keep on Playin'

JAB

P.S. My banjo has now shrunk to banjo uke size, but I'm still strummin' away on it.

Hey Bonnie!

Come down here busking. Fill yer cases with U.S. dollars haul them back to Canada, exchange them, and after expenses...you'll still be underpaid folk musicians.....Well, just come to California for the hell of it. We'd love to see you and meet himself. If there's anything left after brother Lane's evaluation.

Fortunato,

If I remember correctly, the official count last year was something like 2400. Even allowing for a sizable margin of error that's not even close to 10,000 (even if it feels like 10,000 when you're standing in line for a shower). Clifftop is definitely not in the Philly Folk Fest league, and probably never will be.

However, 2400 is a lot of people for an old time festival and Clifftop is indeed getting bigger. This is a source of concern for us old farts. I don't like big festivals either, but Clifftop's size is still within my parameters of acceptability.

I think that anybody who does old time music should go to Clifftop at least once, to say you did and to see for yourself what is going on. The music is great but it is the reunion aspect that keeps me coming back.
