Subject: Not about Drumcree or Guests From: Zipster Date: 12 Feb 02 - 01:29 PM I wonder if that'll get your attention... I posted the following request under the title Cardiff/Portcawl(sic), (moderators please delete). Everyones too busy in here just now trying too find people to fight with and only the one and only Dai was kind enough to respond, (thanks Dai) With a few good fellows, stout(very)and true I find myself travelling to the above destinations, for reasons not unassociated with an oval ball. Any members in the area got advice as to pubs, clubs etc for good music, (or bad women)? Staying in Portcawl (between 5th and 7th and travelling up to Cardiff for the match, by which time I expect you boys to have your hywel(?) back in working order. Yours aye Z PS My name is Roger. I live in Edinburgh. I like everyone, Welsh people, members, Guests, Welsh Guests, the members of Welsh Guests(...ermm not sure about that one), people who were Guests once, people who were Welsh more than once etc, etc, etc. |

Subject: RE: Help: Not about Drumcree or Guests From: Noreen Date: 12 Feb 02 - 01:56 PM Zipster/Roger, I think the likely reason you got only one reply is that there aren't many people who have any relevant information to offer, and who are around during the day. It is only about six hours since you posted the thread- give people a chance! You may get some people looking in who go online at home in the evenings. Not everyone is online all day, or even visits every day, so it would be worth refreshing the thread for a few days if it doesn't stay up on its own :0) And the chances of getting relevant answers will be much higher in the other thread with the relevant title. Good luck. Noreen |

Subject: RE: Help: Not about Drumcree or Guests From: Ella who is Sooze Date: 13 Feb 02 - 04:27 AM Well Zipster... I couldn't reply, because... I didn't have a clue when you were coming to Cardiff... You still don't really say when... and not being THAT interested in rugby type things - (except for watching men in shorts with nice legs run around) I still have no clue about what dates the matches are actually on. Anyways, I can't think of anything that is on around that date in Cardiff, sorry! But as for pubs - there's loads. Nice bars opposite the Castle, (irish names but can't think right now - it's too early). All along St. Mary's street are some brill pubs too. There's a good one down the opposite end from the castle (at the end of St Mary's street) called The Prince of Wales (big bar).. Mulligans, The Walkabout. LOADS... Loads of clubs too! All depends what sort of music you like to dance to. Hope that helps a little... One thing though - will be packed full of people - further away from the Millenium stadium the better I reckon. Regards Ella |
Subject: RE: Help: Not about Drumcree or Guests From: Zipster Date: 13 Feb 02 - 04:46 AM Ella, most comprehensive, thanks for that. I'm looking forward already. As I mention in the other thread, I'm in Cardiff on the Saturday 6th, Porthcawl on the 5th and 8th, we're meant to be walking Snowden on the 4th. If there's any Welsh folk music around please let me know. Noreen, thanks, I'm back at work (with my cookie) I'll rtry that when I get home. (Something tells me your no stranger to a man's urges.) }:-] Z |
Subject: RE: Help: Not about Drumcree or Guests From: Liz the Squeak Date: 13 Feb 02 - 08:45 PM Snowdon is lovely, I was walking round Cader Idris not so long ago..... take a good pair of walking boots, be prepared to get wet, and don't be stupid. The annual rainfall is huge, and even on the finest days, the clouds can come down and swamp you in a matter of minutes! I got up one morning, looked out over Cader, and saw it was blue skies and beautiful. I went to the bathroom and 10 minutes later Cader had vanished under a deep blanket of fog. Mind you, I still thought it was beautiful and went and walked on it anyway... with a good map, company and sensible boots. If you go to Dolgellau, go to the cafe opposite the bus stop in the main square, it does the most amazing breakfasts! LTS |
Subject: RE: Help: Not about Drumcree or Guests From: Zipster Date: 14 Feb 02 - 06:18 AM Great steer LTS, its always good to know where to get a good breakfast, or sometimes even two, so thanks for that. Your points about walking are well made, I walk regularly but I appreciate that a mountain like Snowden should be treated with respect. Still haven't cracked the music Porthcawl/Cardiff thing yet, so if anyone is looking in... |
Subject: RE: Help: Not about Drumcree or Guests From: Zipster Date: 14 Feb 02 - 07:16 AM Apologies for the non-music question, but I'm also looking for any advice on places to stay near to Snowden. We're driving down on the Wednesday and hope, weather permitting, to walk Snowden on Thursday, so the nearer the better really. |
