Pete Wragg, stalwart of Chippenham Folk Festival Task Force, Upton on Severn FF, Swindon Folk Club and general all round good bloke, died suddenly last week at the age of 45. I shall be going to the funeral ( 14:40, Friday July 6th, Trelawny Chapel, Truro.) and would be pleased to take along any messages of condolence for Karenza, John, Wesley and Sandy. I'm also going to miss the old bugger! Nic

Thanks Nic. I came here today to say more or less the same thing about Pete.

Few people will know of him by name. Pete didn't sing, play or dance, but was never the less devoted to folk music. Anybody who has attended Chippenham festival will have benifitted from his efforts. You may not have seen the amount of work he put into a festival, but you certainly would have noticed had it not been done! That was typical of Pete, he didn't ask for thanks, recognition or reward, he just did his best to ensure that others had a good time.

A lovely generous man, and yes, a damn good bloke. I, too, will miss him. So will folk music.

Brian

I am shocked and very, very sorry to hear of Pete Wraggs's death, Nic. He was a good friend and someone who tirelessly and steadfastly supported folk music. I remember him saying to me, "All that really matters is the MUSIC!" The traditional music scene would wither and die without people like him. R.I.P Pete.

Thanks for passing the word, Nic. Please forward for me my condoleance to Karenza, from the crazy southpaw guitar and cittern player I am, with the fond memory of an evening at the Club he was hosting and, of course, endless discussions when we happenned to meet on this or that festival.

Salut

JL

I remember Pete at Chippenham one year. He crawled under the stage and held a stanchion while a herd of morris thundered through their act. As he radioed for reinforcements (sic) I suggested it was just a "stage he was going through".
Pete was ever cheerful and saw the funny side despite his obvious concern. That was Pete, a mate. Nic - give him a good send-off. Hugs to Karensa.

Condolences and prayers from the USA. The non-performing staff don't usually get recognized by the paying audience, so it's extra important that recognition be given them by anyone that knows about their good work.

Thanks Hollowfox for your kind thoughts and understanding.

Pete's funeral was well attended by family and friends, including many folk friends. How Kerensa was able to play during the service, I will never know, but she did it beautifully.

We shed some tears, shared some jokes, played some tunes and sung some songs. A fitting tribute, I think, to Pete and what he enjoyed.

God bless him.

Brian
