Well KimC first thought bread machines were the antichrist, then changed her mind and decided it must be WalMart.

I have always thought Bill Gates was the antichrist, although I'm open to correction.

I don't want to talk about deep theology or end-times scenarios. Just the semi-silly ways people use this term.

Well, y'know, sometimes EVIL just isn't a strong enough word.

I had some friends in college who swore their housemate's cat was the antichrist because he knocked over the Christmas tree.

I see nobody mentioned Ted Turner. Or Marilyn Manson.

It could be Anne Robinson. (goodbye!) Or maybe Regis Philbin.

Naaaaahhhh...... Wal-Mart. Where you can buy a bread machine.

Marilyn Manson is obviously just a red herring to take attention from the REAL a.c., Nancy Reagan's astrologer Joan, who, having sunk the Titanic, blown up the Hindenburg and kidnapped the Lindbergh baby, is now channeling through the heavy-metal Pat Boone, who is really only a golem [sp?]. The real Pat Boone is in the sanitarium with Elvis and James Dean, waiting for power to fail in New York so they can all come back. Is that more like what you had in mind, Mousethief??

Kim-- He shops at WalMart most of the time, but tends to buy cigs from an illegal alien who was part of a ring that sold hot bread machines until he got busted and spent six months in prison in Louisiana. He kept his head together by playing REALLY funky versions of Barry Manilow songs on an old slide guitar that used to belong the Kathy Lee. The alien, that is, not the S.M. Hard to keep all these guys straight.

It's the stupid thing's eyebrows that kill me. I do, at the risk of becoming serious, often ask myself why anyone smart enough to write programs can be convinced that a person laboring over a hopefully "creative" writing project can be helped by having gratuitous distractions on the very same screen. If you think the paper clip is bad--you know there are options, including a red happy face?? Do these guys think the whole WORLD is on meth??? But they do win the Nobel Prize for perfection because their version of HELP is perfectly useless. I long for the days of Word Perfect for DOS, on which I could actually lay out a page the way I wanted to. Oh, just try abbreviating "northeast" sometime, and see what Mister Paper Clip does. I think Joan supplied the codes for this part of the program.

Bad news folks. My understanding of the antichrist is that while he will epitomize Evil, he will not appear evil. This lets pretty much everyone who has been mentioned so far off the hook.

As much as it pains me to say so, the only truly viable candidate for antichrist is Bill Clinton.

Did we really thing we would get rid of him that easilly?

I can't believe noone's even mentioned Maggie Thatcher. How cruelly fleeting fame can be.

But that quote from St Francis she laid on everybody when she first emerged to talk to the media - "Where there is..." In a movie, that's just what you'd expect to get from the antichrist.

Alex: LOLOL!!! I just got Publisher 2000 and the damn thing is 3D now! as if it wasn't bad enough...you're on the money. :)

Personally, my vote goes to Mark Burnett. But I'm visualizing myself being violently ejected from the Mudcat should I actually admit that I watch Survivor, so maybe I'll shut up now...

And while I'm on evil TV personalities, I think the Smoking Man has been officially replaced as X-Files Antichrist by the Evil FBI Director now. You know, the one who can't be bothered to even TRY to be subtle? "I want you to drop this case. Now. Uh, did you hear me? I said drop it...crap, nobody's listening to me. I'm going to go watch some more Godfather movies now..."

And speaking of Christ and the X-Files, if they hit me over the head with the resurrection metaphor any more, I'm going to file suit for egregious mental cruelty. Gee, why didn't they stretch out the episodes a little more so Mulder could come back from the dead (after being tortured the whole season on a gratuitously cross-shaped apparatus and suffer wounds in his hands, feet, and sides...gotta love the subtlety) on EASTER SUNDAY??? they missed a great opportunity there...

okay, I'm just making myself look worse. I'm going to pretend to do some work now. :)

KimC,

What has my sister Anne Robinson (in Oz) ever done to deserve a nomination as the a c? (Who is this Anne Robinson?)

I keep thinking about the bit in Revelations about the 7 [somethings]and the worst one "blows hot and cold". I think of that whenever I hear about American presidents putting their oar in on world peace in other countries and then firing missiles etc into other potentially hostile countries, like they are waving around a big gun, saying "Fight me, fight me!".

I know, I know - I'm treading on very thin ice, but such contradictions scare me.

Being a well established theologian/ former minister, I speak with much wisdom and well-considered thought. Yes. I have pondered this extensively and came to this astounding, yet definite conclusion.

The anti-christ (small "a") must be either (1) Wally Cox (2) Tommy Roe or, and most likely (3) Spaw.

Why Spaw? Think about it. He has an opinion on EVERY subject...quite a knowledgeable individual. He is popular... EVERY body (including myself) Love the fellow and many would vote for him being the King of the World.

The only thing that causes me to wonder whether he is the antichrist is his phallic short-comings. I think the antichrist is supposed to very rather virile.

I think if the muse ever visited Mike Harris he either ignored it completely or measured it to see if it took up any more room than a poltergeist, assumed that her whispered words were the ravings of either a drunken, probably violent, squeegee kid or a beer-swilling, bone-idle pregnant welfare mother and highschool teacher and whacked her away with his 5 iron.

sledge,

That reminds me of the first Terry Pratchett book I ever read: Good Omens. The four horsepersons of the Apocalypse are really funny. I especially love the one for War - oh, and the one for famine as well. (Old MacDonalds had a hamburger joint, e-i-e-i-o, and in that hamburger joint there were lots of malnourished people, e-i-e-i-o....)

I don't mind being one of the Four Horsemen of the Apostrophe. I hate it when that little squiggle gets misued.

Getting back to the Anti-Christ, doesn't the number 666 come into this. Using that clue, I have determined that he or she (or it probably) lives in Bolton, Lancashire (where they have that road number). And because I firmly believe that, if there is an Anti-Christ, Lancashire will be involved somewhere.

And Les - I live at the very start (or is it end?) of the A666 in Swinton, Manchester. Well - not quite very start. St Johns Church has that honour. Bit of a worry to it's parishoners I guess!

Out of interest, before they pulled it down to build a roundabout, the honour belonged to the Brittania pub. The boundry between Swinton and Salford ran through the pub and people used to move from vault to lounge as different closing times applied. Perhaps they were possessed realy and not just wanting more beer???

Cheers

Well, that's it solved then. You get my vote Dave. And trying to shift the blame onto your Auntie Christine was a very typically Beastly act.

You could at least do the decent thing and have a rubber stamp made with your sign so that the rest of us can buy bread machines in Walmart and other stuff. (Read Revelations for the explanation - suffice to say that none of us will be able to buy and sell stuff without having the mark of the Beast, aka Dave the Gnome). Or it might mean that the Beast is a barcode.

I do not believe that Lenin is the antichrist, but I did recently post my Siberian Memories (from when I traversed the USSR by train as a 14-y.o. kid, in 1968), and one of them propounds the doctrine that Lenin is the Beast of the Apocalypse, which is close.

Saddam Hussein and the regime in Iraq are offering $10,000 per family if they're able to persuade a family to have their teenager strap explosives on them and go out and kill themselves and kill innocent men, women, and children. It turns out that he has raised that amount, and it's $25,000 per family, not $10,000 per family.

Think of it. Here is an individual who is the head of a country, Iraq, who has proudly, publicly made a decision to go out and actively promote and finance human sacrifice for families that will have their youngsters kill innocent men, women, and children. That is an example of what it is we're dealing with.

UFO's, Wicans, and the anti-christ are in concert together. This is explained in the "Cooper Document" from the UK. http://area51.upsu.plym.ac.uk/~moosie/ufo/txt/consp/022.htm

The aliens were using humans and animals for a source of glandular secretions, enzymes, hormonal secretions, blood and in horrible genetic experiments. The aliens explained that these actions as necessary to their survival. They stated that their genetic structure had deteriorated and that they were n o longer able to reproduce. They stated that if they were unable to improve their genetic structure their race would soon cease to exist. We looked upon their explanations with extreme suspicion. Since our weapons were literally useless against the aliens, MJ-12 decided to continue friendly diplomatic relations with them until such time as we were able to develop a technology which would then enable us to challenge them on a military basis. Overtures would have toduring World War II and soon obtained the entire Vatican study which included the prophecy. This prophecy stated that if man did not turn from evil and place himself at the feet of Christ the planet would self destruct and the events described in the book of Revelations would indeed come to pass. It stated that a child would be born who would unite the world with a plan for world peace and a false religion beginning in 1992. By 1995 the people would discern that he was evil and was indeed the Anti-Christ. World War III would begin in the Middle East in 1995 with the invasion of Israel by a United Arab nation using conventional weapons which would culminate in a nuclear holocaust in the year 1999. Between 1999 and 2003 most of life on this planet would suffer horribly and die as a result. The return of Christ would occur in the year 2011.
