I heard this song some time ago in a session. Does anyone know the lyrics? Or even has the melody as abc, midi or gif?

Kind regards,

Sabine

Well - I fouled that up nicely! Apart from that, I've since found the song required. I'll post a link later.

Note to the elves: Don't bother fixing that link - its not relevant, in fact. Thanks.

Regards

THIS (rather irritating) site seems to have an MP3 and/or real audio version available.

Thanks, Martin :o)

Didn't know that it was the "maid". But a lady sang it, so she made a man of a maid *lol*

When reading the words the melody came back to my mind. Great.

Thanks again!

Kind regards,

Sabine

Oh, yes, I know Ravenswing.... :o(((

It is a German group from the near of Muenster. The fiddler, Franziska, could be brilliant if she ever had the chance to come out. And the flute player, Gabi, well she _is_ brilliant. But the combination of all of them.....

Did you listen to their tracks?

Sabine

The link from Martin is relevant and leads to the lyrics (as Sabine has said implicitely). Why that group changed the title from 'Maid of Coolmore' to 'Man from Colemore' I don#t know. Perhaps just to puzzle future scholars.

Quite simple solution, Wolfgang.

It is sung by a woman and she thought that it fits much better to sing about a man. I think to remember that Ann also modified the lyrics, but I am not quite sure.

Ha! I got so irritated with flying cookies that I didn't bother to listen to the song - I just assumed it was something different.

The "Maid" is indeed a beautiful song.

Was feeling melancholic and was revisiting some old music and came across the Bothy Band. I'm not Irish but a priest friend of mine who studied in Dublin and who passionately loves the Irish spirit, put me onto them. Believe me, if you knew him you'd know why he loved them so much - Irish music, when it's happy it's really happy, when it's sad it's really sad. He is such a tortured soul but so full of compassion and wisdom, both which seem to emanate from this kind of music especially when played by the Bothy Band. This song just touches my soul so deeply. I am trying to work out the chords (guitar)and have gotten somewhere but many are eluding me. Has anyone managed to do so? Would love to hear from you.
