In April she donated $1 million to facilitate vaccine research, specifically COVID.

Back in April, Parton donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s efforts to combat Covid-19, which included Moderna’s vaccine trial and clinical research.

And wouldn't ya know it, one of the front runners.

The cynic in me would say that she will probably make that back in goodwill sales alone, Dolly is a very astute cookie. But a donation is a donation and no expectation of any sort of payback. Vaccine research is a low odds gamble anyway.

Congressional Medal minimum IMNSHO.

Some people might believe her bimbo act but she is a great song writer, performer and lady.

Mr Red- your cynicism might be justified if she had announced it in April or an intention to do it in March.

When people question the motives of others are they questioning their own motivations and view of the world I wonder?

A bit like the Mail questioning Marcus Rashford's motives by rattling on about his big houses, etc. We shouldn't knock celebrities for using their platform to do something useful. I'm viciously anti-all things royal (or ex-royal) but I do admire Meghan Markle for speaking up about her miscarriage.

Isn’t she Meghan Mountbatten-Windsor since marrying into ‘The Firm’? Or Meghan Sussex? She reportedly dropped her maiden name when she married.

And I agree about her speaking up about her miscarriage.

When Charles married Diana it was announced that she would be known as 'Princess Charles' (like Princess Michael of Kent).
That didn't catch on, did it.

John Wayne was born Marion Morrison. Might as well have been a boy named Sue...

Good heavens Steve, and you - a ‘scientist’ - expressing contempt for accuracy! You disappoint me young man...

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze

I nominate the lady for Congressional Medal minimum IMNSHO

and everyone riffs of on cynicism, the Royals and each other.

Hey! I respect the lady, she is a folk song writer - I defy anyone to discount "Coat of Many Colors" as anything other than Folk.

Dolly is Hollywood Royalty. As she says "I ain't stupid, and I ain't blonde". Anyone who can refuse to share songwriting credits with Elvis Presley on a song "wot she wrote" has real heart, and integrity. But she ain't no mug in business either.

The equal-best show I ever saw was a few years ago - Dolly at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield. Truly wonderful in terms of her music, her story-telling, and her personality.

The other equal-best show was The Boss at the Ricoh Stadium in Coventry, 2016.

Two superb, yet very different, performances.
