Hi Nigel

I watched all the games this weekend. Great games to watch. Especially from England and Wales and of course New Zealand in beating the strong Ireland team. I had a bit of a problem with fitting the Rugby and football but managed !

I don't think we English will miss you not cheering....but I will be cheering both Wales and England.

I am Looking forward to watching the semis.

Cheers Mike

Well, we're down to the last four.
Next weekend's matches:
England v New Zealand
Wales v South Africa.

I won't be cheering England on in the first game, but as long as Wales beat South Africa I would prefer a Wales v England final.

A bit more cheer in the Scottish camp after this morning's match! When did you last see TWO penalty tries being given in one match?

It would be equally difficult right now to convince Japanese and Welsh that Rugby League is a better game but the changes made at and since the split WERE for the better; as in the poem above, I would go further and do away with scrums altogether, which in RL have become a token gesture - akin to the tunnel ball we used to play at school in Sydney.

A great game this morning from Wales & Australia.
I say Wales & Australia deliberately ('&' rather than 'vs.') because both teams played well to make something of a spectacle of open rugby.
For anyone who has yet to watch I won't spoil it with the result, as it comes right "down to the wire"!

...Kaizen, maybe? Either way, it will surely generate interest/fill stadiums.

Japan 19 -- Ireland 12   !!!!!!!!!!!!!! That'll take some ink and breath ?

1. Ireland were over confident, especially after those first two easily managed tries ?
2. Ireland were tired after their effort against the Scots the previous match.
3. Ireland had two less recovery days than Japan.
4. Japan forgot that Ireland were supposed to win
5. Japan didn't play fair, they "imported" big lads.
6. We'll beat them next time ?

OK, now I don't want to hear any more about it !

Something, Nigel, they would never have done if the prospect of a score against mattered in the slightest. I wouldn't make too much of it. Decent performance from us. Better than I expected, in truth, given the number of changes, and better, albeit against weaker opposition (sorry Yanks, but this Yook expects Tonga to beat you in due course), than in the opening game.

Still a long way to go, though!

England beating USA by 45-0. The klaxon goes for full time, and play continues until the next stoppage.
Instead of just kicking the ball out of play (as they had numerous opportunities to do) England decide to try to increase their win, but fail to score a further try, lose the ball to USA, who then go on to pull the score back to 45-7. GO USA!

Canada has been crushed. Again. By Italy.

Nothing to see here. Move along!

Himself, with whom I share brass rags, rolls out of the pit at the oddest of hours (we’re in Stratford, Ontario) to keep up with the tournament. On Sunday, I arose to the braying of a Welsh commentator waxing lyrical about George North. A bit weird with pre-church tea.

Here we go again.
A good start on Friday with (the hosts) Japan beating Russia.

Three of the 'Home Nations' recorded initial wins, but as Scotland played Ireland in their first games, it could never be a clean sweep for the Home Nations.

The other two teams who play in the 'Six Nations' competition (France & Italy) also started with wins (over Argentina & Namibia respectively).

I was up early today to watch the Welsh match. Well, I say 'early', but when you're retired the definition of 'early' changes. Next Welsh match is on Sunday with kick off at 08.45 (UK time) against Australia

With ITV showing all matches they are available on 'free-to-air' in UK. Also 3 minutes (approximately) of highlights of each match can be found on Google
