There's a hit song on the radio by that title,
in case you weren't aware:
"thank you, next."
Very melodious and upbeat it is, too.

Anticipating the campaign to come, Vermont's Bernie Sanders
spent MLKJr.'s birthday in South Carolina.

I'm gonna get flak for saying this. However.

We need Hillary Clinton alive and working hard for us.
That's why I hope she moves on from
the Oval Office campaigns.
I fear the Oval Office would be the death of her.
It has been hard enough,
watching her face increasingly looking saggy and worn.

Remember Chris Christie from New Jersey?
He was recently asked in public if he would run in 2020, and his answer was, Never say Never.

Right now he is promoting his new book about
the Trump brouhaha, with the title,
"Let Me Finish."

I would keep an eye on him. I don't think he's
anywhere near ready to throw in the towel, love him or hate him.

Election Day in 2020 --
I haven't looked that far ahead,
but one wel-publicized astrologer has, calling it 4 November.
Said astrologer looked at the chart for that date.

And now warns that the brouhaha of 4 November 2020
could rival
the 2000 election with Dubya, Gore, and hanging chads.

Even if Trump goes to jail he will only be punished with a wiffle ball and chain in Otisville* prison. Not doing TV interviews and tweeting is considered cruel and unusual punishment for the Donald.

*rated 2 stars higher than any Trump Hotel.

Kushner will share Donald's cell.
Ivanka will sell unscented perfume in an empty bottle called Wish and
Donald Jr and Eric will become right wing folk artists called the Smothered Brothers.

Democrats will abolish the Electoral college and adopt a lottery to select any President but a Trump.

Trump needs this election. He has always been a small minded con man and chiseler of the working man and banks alike.
As POTUS, he ran with the big boys for the first time in his life with promises by Putin and friends to join the Panama paper crowd of wealthy criminals. The Donald was accustomed to hiring cheap taxi cab criminals like Cohen to do his bidding. Visions of vast fortunes hidden away are nothing more than paid to play lifting of sanctions. The oil investments were not meant to be.
He needs more time to give Putin what he wants but as usual he is left wanting and actually becomes deeper in debt to Russia.
His failing?
While Donald has practiced his whole life he is simply not as good a liar as Putin.

Despite being a narcissist Trump may not be as guilty as we are led to believe. When in the hands of the Russians it is possible that advanced interrogation techniques were involved.

When you think of advanced interrogation techniques you might think of painful sadistic fearful abuse as in medieval torture, Nazi techniques or US Abu grab experiments. But 'advances' have been made in the biochemical and intelligence world that will turn people in directions far easier than with punitive techniques.

A combination of Oxytocin and other agents in association with familiar situations, that constitute training, is an interrogation technique that can be invisible to the subject. In short you can 'kill' him with kindness.

Much has been said about a Manchurian candidate President. I for one more than believe it is possible , I believe it is likely. I do have a unique background to come to this conclusion so if you conclude differently there is a reason.

Meanwhile in the non Putin world, Booker has announced his candidacy for POTUS.

Must? No... those who didn't qualify for the debate stage have paid up and will be listed on primary ballots... but barring some upheaval, are simply running to push an agenda or for attention by the eventual winner.
Even 10 is hard for the public to follow seriously. Get down to the 3 who caught the public's eye and wait for the big change in primary schedules. Several states got tired of having so much be decided by Iowa and N. Hampshire.

I don't see any impediment to another 4 years of Twitler. Not a prediction, but a statement that we are living in interesting times and predictions are mostly valueless.

** Syria, Crimea, etc etc. Russia needs to divide and conquer - minds, and that is why Fakebook is so relevant. Hilary's e-mails - who broke the news? Ask yourself, how much is Twitler worth to the Russians?

Meanwhile we have a constitutional crisis looming here in the UK. Political tactics looking more like criminality.

I'm not sure that the Democratic candidates understand black and Latino and other minority voters. All of these groups are quite conservative - security and safety are their biggest concerns, and they need a candidate who can honestly address those concerns. I hope that the Democrats figure that out so that minority voters don't stay away from the polls.

Joe.. that is, on the surface, obvious... but it's also kind of vague. Who, except members of a community, DO to **understand**? No group, black, Latino, Muslim... whatever.. is homogeneous.
What does "address those concerns" mean? All that Democrats... or any candidate... can do is try to have a platform that is as fair and comprehensive as possible. The major Democratic candidate I have seen have appeared at minority town halls and discussion groups to listen and clarify issues.
Personally, I feel that a large % of minority groups will see their major concern to be anything but Trump, and that almost any Democrat who gets the nomination will probably be a huge step in the right direction.

At this point I'm pulling for Warren but Biden is assiduously courting black voters and doing very well in the polls with them, the older ones anyway. But I agree with Bill that anti-Trump sentiments might be the prime motivator for minorities. Trump slagging Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans via Twitter just as Dorian was approaching couldn't have done him much good with Latinos, not to mention all his other overtly racist remarks and policies.

Joe,
I think it is much more nuanced than that. *Some* people who are not white are "conservative" in that they think you should persecute LGBT folks and prevent women from making their own birth control decisions. That "family values" thing. And some would vote based on that to the exclusion of real bread and butter issues.

Defense? You mean that people of color like wars? Or maybe they just like military spending? Like the kind where non-whites sign up for the military with the promise of citizenship, and then run into the Republican buzz saw of xenophobia? You mean like that Latino and other minority support?

But there is also the people of color support that profoundly feels the abuse of workers lower on the ladder, and the general abuse by the power structure. An whole lot of the recent surge in union membership has been some of these people. Oh, and they are most likely to be the victims of voter suppression by Republicans, including Trump.

Well, we certainly can speculate. Personally, I would like to see Iowa and New Hampshire be "decertified" as the first-crack-at-it field reducers. And I would like to see a much shorter campaign season. I don't think IA and NH do best by the rest of the country. And I don't think our elongated campaigns give us the best possible outcomes.

Saul

...but it is part of the new trend to put **good** beer in cans. I tried a couple, and they were good, but I often drink only a half when I'm just sitting at home. I can easily re-seal a bottle until tomorrow... not as easy with cans. I will see how it goes, but there are 7-8 good IPAs I can get in a bottle.

Yes Bill, Jai-Alai comes in a can and when I don't finish a whole one I funnel it into an empty beer bottle and seal it with one of those wine bottle stoppers with a lever on top but then I know that seems like a lot work after beer thirty.
One IPA I like real well which I've only seen in a bottle is Racer 5 from Bear Republic which I can usually find at Total Wine.

Oh and, Go Buttigieg, the more I hear from him the more I like.

When majority leader of the Senate, Mc Connell, (Moscow Mitch) typically called on Republicans to vote against disclosure, all 100 Senators voted for disclosure of the whistle blower's urgent alarm.

I think Biden's age is starting to show, he appeared a bit frail in the speech he gave last week, on a debate stage he might be overwhelmed by the big orange bully and this country (and the world) can't afford to lose this election to Trump. Bernie, with a bad ticker, would be about 86 at the end of a 2nd term and Warren would be 78, although she seems to be the most vigorous of those listed above. Are we trying to recreate the Politburo. I don't think I'm an ageist but look at Reagan during his 2nd term and he was younger than any of them when he took office.
