I think not. These are Messianic Jews...in other words, Christian converts. Jews for Jesus, etc.

An organization of Christans AND Jews, OK. but Messianic Jews I don't get. One of the integral parts of Judism is that Jesus was NOT the Messiah. You just can't be a Christian AND a Jew at the same time, IMO.

Major Oxymoron to me.

And I still didn't find the Star of David Singers albums.

Apparently, Rachel Boskey founded the "Star of David Singers." I didn't find any recordings by that group. Rachel is now performing with her husband Avner Boskey, and samples of their recordings are available here (click).

I can't say I feel very comfortable with the idea of Messianic Judaism. It seems to be an updated version of "Jews for Jesus," and that sort of outlook is a bit too born-again and doctrinaire to me. It seems to take an aggressive approach to converting Jews to Christianity.

Sorcha says, "One of the integral parts of Judism is that Jesus was NOT the Messiah." I don't think that's true - it's just that belief in Jesus as messiah is not part of Jewish belief. It might appear to be just a philosophical distinction, but I think it's an important one. Not believing in war is an integral part of pacifism, and pacifists actively practice that nonbelief. The same can't be said for Judaism and nonbelief in Christ. Until Christians were expelled from Judaism in about the year 70, many Christians considered themselves to be a sect of Judaism. Times have changed since then.

Generally speaking, and I am no theologian, Jews believe in the messiah (or Messiah), but also believe that he (or He) is yet to come.

Sorcha, Messianic Jews, or Jews who accept Jesus as the Messiah, are not Christians!! Christians are gentiles.Jews are Jews. Believing in the Messiah is the Jewel in the Crown of Judaism!! A Jew who believes in Jesus is a completed Jew! The God that Christians worship is the Jewish God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Jesus was a Jew!
Jesus is the Jewish Messiah. If you read the Book of Acts and Galatians you will see how the Early Church viewed Jews and Gentiles that believed in Jesus!

Excuse me Alban, but anyone who belives in Jesus Christ as the Messiah is by definition a Christian and not a Jew. Your missionary arguments do not hold water. When you consider how many Jews were burnt at the stake during the Spanish Inquisition and sacrificed their lives rather than submit to forcible conversion, your remarks are nothing short of an insult to their holy memories. What our enemies could not do to us by the sword and fire, you missionaries are trying to accomplish with guile. It will not work.
