Overnight November arrived here in Fort Worth. I went out and got the paper and the wheelbarrow. Hauled two huge loads of the tomato vines I cut yesterday back to the compost. Picked the last couple of eggplants, and that is it, except for some basil, from the garden today. Finished stuffing the dogs' houses full of new hay (they love it!) It was beginning to drizzle when I came in.

Faucet covers will go on in a few minutes, but everything else is taken care of. I have candles in the fireplace that I'll light this evening - I get the effect of the fire without the smoke.

Rolls are rising, sweet potatoes are simmering. Dinner is going to be very late here this year, as the end of the line for my daughter and her friend who are coming to dinner. They've already been at both of his parents homes (anyone else watch the Vicar of Dibley, in particular, the episode where she eats so many xmas dinners?)

Still installing stuff on the computer. Got the printer linked up, the scanner, but I haven't set up the television receiver yet. I'm interested in using that to load stuff into the computer that I can burn to DVD, but I'll make sure everything works over this long weekend.

The house is beginning to smell good. Andrea, I love that you have enough book shelves now and are getting out the ornaments. I need to do that. I noticed some lights up in the neighborhood yesterday - good idea, now it's going to be cold work. I have to put lights up on my crape myrtle "tree."

Lucky Morgan, with his pumpkin pie for his birthday! My father used to request a banana cream pie. I'm dying to bake something special for today, so it might be a cranberry duff or a blueberry coffee cake. I want it to have pretty fruit, whatever I decide.
