I'm ready for the holidays. I shopped this evening when there were few people in the store. I had to buy $20 of other stuff to get my turkey at the low price, and I did that with things that I needed that I normally buy at that store. I hate being stuck in stores full of people and long, tedious lines.

That doesn't mean I avoided all discord this evening, however. I was in my regular little store picking up the last few things I needed, and I walked to the checkout where only one clerk was working, and there was a cart in front of the register but the shopper had walked away. Nowhere in sight for several minutes, and we were all waiting for the clerk to say something or ask one of us to go ahead, but she didn't. A little woman came back with her box of 'Nilla cookies and proceeded to go through the longest, drawn out purchase, and bagged her groceries there at the register (this is a store where you move your cart away from the register and bag them yourself.) I finally mentioned that the way she was shopping rather defeated the way the store functions. She was quite snotty when she said she was waiting for the money to clear, and she ended up paying with three different cards and cash. I wouldn't have minded if she hadn't made several of us wait for her to begin with, so I wasn't about to apologize to this twit.

One day someone will point out how selfish she is and maybe she'll understand why those of us in line were more than a little stony-faced as she finally moved away from the register.

Busy weekend!
