I hadn't heard or read that version before.

I think that the "123" beginning may be a clip of this line from the Jackson 5 song "ABC" -"ABC It's as easy as 123". That line shows up in a number of contemporary American children's hand clap rhymes.

Thanks again, Jim, for your reseach on that beat/box like vocal art of "eephing". I'm fascinated by the possible connectiosn between "eephing" and these rhymes.

My theory is that the "Oosh ah I wanna piece of pie" beginning for some of these rhymes is folk etymology for "Oh my I want a piece of pie". And I think that "Oh my" may have come from the line "By and By I want a piece of pie."

Of course, it's not a matter of which lines are right or wrong, but which lines came first (just because it's interesting to speculate about these kinds of things).
