Pork roll is also a tradition in North Jersey, although it is probably more popular in the south.

"Hoagies" is not used as much as it used to, but I do remember in High School here in North Jserey we had an annual "hoagie" sale to support the senior class.   Nowadays "sub" seems to the term everyone uses.
