Yup, really looking forward to the whole week- there's a good lineup of guests and sessions for all tastes, really- Tom & Barbara's excellent Sailing Club session in the evening. the Neptune for unaccompanied singing and the Nelson for tunes at midday and this year the Woodshed at 3pm every afternoon in the Wrotham Arms, to cater for all those who are looking for somewhere to play along with others, and there's Avril's folk club accomodates those who prefer to play to an audience late afternoon. I'll be going to as many as time allows!
I agree wholly with Richard, that session etiquette is important- following the singer in their version, playing an accompaniement (if appropriate to the session) rather than overpowering the singer or lead player. I think it's important to bear in mind that every session we will be drawing someone new in, and they deserve a hearing. The best sessions imho are those in which everyone hangs their ego on the peg by the door! As JFK might have put it, ask not what the session can do for you, ask what you can do for the session...
oh, and some shirts just part a crowd... but the owners respect the sessions 'cos they're good people...
see you there...
