GUEST,Penny S.(elsewhere) Lyr Req: Mary Had a Little Lamb (parody) (54* d) RE: mary had a lamb, parody: lyrics urgently needed 04 Jul 02

I learned a version from my father, who probably learned it in the Boys' Brigade.

Mary had a little lamb, its fleece was white as snow,
Shouting out the battlecry of freedom,
And everywhere that Mary went, the lamb was sure to go,
Shouting out the battlecry of freedom.

(Yes, it is different, honest.)

Hurrah for Mary, hurrah for the lamb,
Hurrah for the teacher, who didn't care a thr'penny bit,
We'll rally round the flag boys, and rally once again,
Shouting out the battle cry of freedom.

(there may have been a verse using it following her to school, but I don't recall it.)

ABCDEFGHIJKLM,
Shouting out the battlecry of freedom,
NOPQRSTUVWXYZ,
Shouting out the battlecry of freedom.

Chorus. Mary again, both parts)

Little Jack Horner sat in a corner, eating a Christmas pie,
Shouting out the battlecry of freedom,
He put in his thumb and pulled out plum, and said what a good boy am I,
Shouting out the battlecry of freedom.

And so on until you have run out of nursery rhymes which can be made to fit, or the adults get fed up with it, or you say "are we nearly there yet?" (We used to sing it in the car.) ......
