I have a nice little Yamaha PSS480 which I use for all my midi work. It will send and receive channel filters and also send bulk dumps (but I've forgotten what those are again). I can turn the volume off on my software (Cakewalk 9.03)and hear only the Yahama sounds or I cna turn off the volume on the Yamaha and change the instrument and volume on the Software. Suits me. I also have a full sized Roland with both audio and midi output. It sounds wonderful! but I usually end up using the little Yahama because it's so handy and doesn't take up a lot of room... ~ Jande
