Dave passed away in February (which I noted here at Mudcat, but for some reason a blue clicky isn't working — "Obit: Dave Hamil Western Troubador"). His memoir (which I copyedited) is available at Amazon (Those Hot Dusty Roads ) Recently a video made a number of years ago of his amazing "silent Partner" music accompaniment machine has been posted at Vimeo. Dave built this machine to accompany himself at performances with guitar while he played the banjo. This was back in analog days a loooong time before an electronic black box was developed to do the same thing. This machine is amazing — Silent Partner There is also a CD just made available made from old audio tapes of Dave remastered by Jim Prendergast at Mill Pond Music Studio. Jim added himself accompanying Dave to most of the tracks. The CD ($20 including shipping)is available at SeasonedTimbers2020@gmail.com. The CD includes both Dave's original songs and a number of traditional songs that he performed back in his performing days. (He performed mostly in the American West — Colorado to New Mexico to California.) My copy is in the car, but anyone wants, I can list the tracks. Take a look at the Silent Partner — the engineering is amazing. Linn
