We quarantined through springtime, through summer, and through fall But that virus worked the hardest and longest of us all It worked through nights and Sundays, it worked each holiday It settled down among us and never went away When that virus came to town, it knocked us all right down Oh, that Covid-19 could get us all If you’ll only look and see, I know you will agree That the virus could really get us all The virus is the one, just look at what it’s done That virus is the one to get us all It gets us where we breathe, we can’t get no relief That virus is the one to kill us all The first few started coughing, then they couldn’t catch their breath To the hospitals they went for help where many found their death Some folks did get better, but then some more fell ill Then the trickle turned to avalanche and then things went to hell They came in by the hundreds, by the thousands, and then more But not enough were tested so we didn’t know the score How many were infected, how do we stem the flow?
