I worked out of state.

Joe Froggers, made with blackjstrap molasses arrived for my birthday.
A large donkey shaped cookie, in a tin was filled with lots of "road-apples."

THE recipe creates large, 6inch cookies, and is posted in multiple media outlets.

Joe Froggers Cookies are soft, oversized molasses cookies flavored with rum and they date back to the Revolutionary War .
The story I read, (LA Times c 1966) said they were popular with fishermen on the river and they picked them up hot in the early morning hours.g

RECIPE

Ingredients

1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon hot water
1 cup unsulphured dark molasses
2-1/2 tablespoons dark rum
31/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface
1-1/2 teaspoons table salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1-1/4 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter, softened, plus more for baking sheets
1 cup granulated sugar, plus more for rolling

My brother and I indulged in the leftover rum....preferably, 151.
We doubled the spices.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle
