I once damaged the tendons on the underside of one foot after standing on a thin ladder rung for too long. This slackened the tendons, caused movement under the heel and a spur formed.
The solution was to wear high heeled boots for a couple of months. This threw my weight forward onto the front of the feet and allowing the tendons to tighten up and the spur to dissolve.
Had to watch out got low doorways more, I am 6 foot tall already!
