Can anyone help correct the lyrics below. There are several gaps and word errors. The song is about the massacre by the Campbells of the MacDonald clan at Glencoe, Scotland.

MORNING MIST by Nina Szifris

As I come through the morning mist,I knowed before the mornin’
Dark and cold was in a ...........
The ....................

I looked on to the valley floor,to see what lay before us
The mornin’ mist was in my eyes,I could not see for cryin’
The mornin’ mist was in my eyes, I could not see for cryin’

The dawn’s light came through the leaves, As surely it must do
Darkest fears crept through my heart, The Campbells been before us
No sign of life could I detect, the air was full of sighing
The mornin’ mist was in my eyes, I could not see for cryin’
The mornin’ mist was in my eyes, I could not see for cryin’

Donald o’er had fled before, the others there were dyin
As through the village on we went, the cold wind through us blowin’
Our faces set and our heads were bowed, the truth in us was growin’
The mornin’ mist was in my eyes, I could not see for cryin’
The mornin’ mist was in my eyes, I could not see for cryin’

The mist a shroud to broken faith, Of ancient hospitality
That kept all winter’s travellers safe, and traded highland loyalty
They took their bread and they took their lives, No sign of pity showin’
The mornin’ mist was in my eyes I could not see for cryin’
The mornin’ mist was in my eyes I could not see for cryin’

They took their bread and they took their lives, No sign of pity showin’
The mornin’ mist was in my eyes I could not see for cryin’
