Just come across the brilliant powder kegs morris - a border team. After talking with my friend I was left with two related thoughts. The first is the origin of black face morris, about which there is much debate but little agreement. This is unlikely to be solved, but I wonder whether some of the possible colonial origins and the make up itself can alienate the audience. Following on from this, I was thinking about the lack of non Caucasian involvement in English folk music, morris in particular. Or am I wrong, have others seen a lot of people from different ethnic backgrounds involved in traditional UK dancing?
