GUEST,Big Ballad Singer BS: Sudden craving for old faves: what's yours? (35) RE: BS: Sudden craving for old faves: wh. yrs? 30 Jun 11

+1 to what Leeneia said.

I'm as guilty, if not more so, than most when it comes to that. Looking for the "best" often obscures what is enjoyable in the present moment. I think a lot of our fondest memories are of things that make/made us feel good when it didn't matter a dern whether there was a "better" or an "ultimate" out there... we just liked what we liked. It's like the comment above about Ethel Merman's singing... there just seemed to be an innocent, naive presence that said, "there's no reason not to seize this moment and sing my heart out". Pete Seeger, God love him, is that way, too. Could Ladysmith Black Mambazo sing "Wimoweh" better than Pete? Maybe... but nobody grabs the opportunity to throw themselves into a song and into a good group sing than Pete does.

All in all, I think favorites are just that... YOURS, irrespective of what others like or what moves them.

Me? I LOVE Mello Yello soda, harmonicas and my odd sneaker collection. Lately, I've been getting back into all three with gusto.
