Ref-- the reporter originally said he was known for such songs as Green Fields of France!   I went to the AP site and gave them a correction to Four Green Fields. Was delighted to see they made the change later in the day (how many others jumped on them about it, I wonder) and he had stuck in the new bit about the lady and her fields. Sigh. He made such a speedy effort to fix it, I just couldn't whine about it again.

An ancient aunt who turned me on to a lot of good ballads told me she loved the song for years before someone finally told her it was about the four provinces. She thought it was about the 4 gravesites of her sons. Oh well, even the best of us get confused.
