I always sang the 'Scarlet town is burning down' version for kids with a series of verses based on color. I would ask for the name of a color and make up a verse about it. It was a great hit with school kids who would always try to stump me. GOODBYE LIZA JANE Liza Jane in a dress of red, Good bye, good bye, hem stitched 'round with golden thread, Good bye Liza Jane Liza Jane in a dress of green, Prettiest girl I've ever seen. Liza Jane in a dress of blue, Stole my heart and my best friend, too. Liza jane in a dress of brown, Prettiest girl in the whole darned town. Liza Jane in a dress of purple, Lips as sweet as maple surple. For 'orange' I sang, Orange Liza Jane won't wear, Now I've made a rhyme, so there! You get the idea. It's a great kids song.
