fogie music vs volume (33) RE: music vs volume 14 Sep 06

I think amplification should be for balancing relative volumes of instruments, hiking up the loss of volume in crowded dances, and to enable the caller to be heard above the hubbub. I know some think that the louder the music the more people shout at one another, and if volume is relatively low audiences are quieter, but that might not work when alcohol is part of the equation- especially gigs for weddings.
