Lancashire Lad Woven Wheat Whispers - updates (23) RE: Woven Wheat Whispers - updates 01 Jan 06

Hello everyone,

Woven Wheat Whispers update - 1st January 2006

First a happy new year to everyone from us at Woven Wheat Whispers.   I'm also pleased to say that amongst our mince pie munching we have been able to get a few albums ready to start the new year off.   These are by:

- Barry Reeves    (acoustic folk) - his second album for us.
- Electronic Voice Phenomena    (experimental folk)
- Musician John Paul    (folk-pop)    a sample selection
- Steve Gifford    (acoustic folk)   two albums

These may be accessed directly as always at:

With the start of the new year, we continue to encourage new and existing artists to get in touch about distributing their music through the service.   We also welcome demo sets from emerging artists. Please feel to contact us about this or any subject via our contact page at:

Our page dedicated to 'The Folk Year' has commenced with features on the first folk customs of January, these being Mari-Lwyd the Welsh horse guising of January 1st, Hubberholme Candle Auction and the Feast of Fools.   Coming in the next few days are features on Plough Monday, Whittlesea Straw Bear, Twelfth Night, Haxey Hood, Burning The Clavie, Helly-A and many more. This will continue throughout the month and year to chronicle all the major folk festivals, traditions and customs.   If you have personal experiences of any of these or others, do let us know as we would love to include this in the features. To read now go to:

Links with our site are always welcome in our new 'Folk Community' section, to read the links already up or submit your own please go to:

Next steps at the site will see a new streaming pseudo 'radio' to listen to whilst at the site or others which is drawn from the track samples available for each album. We are also planning promotional CDrs that promote the diversity of music available at the service.   These will provide new opportunities for the music at the service to be heard.

We look forward to growing the service during 2006 and working in partnership with the folk community to help further.
