My favourite version of the Cherry Tree Carol is sung by John Roberts and Tony Barrand on one of their Nowell Sing We Clear albums. Another topical song, although not strickly a Christmas song is the Bitter Withy. John and Tony have this recorded on the same album as the Cherry Tree Carol, I believe, but I prefer the version sung on a Waterson's album. So many versions to these songs! Also, although this one isn't very jolly, Frankie Armstrong's "Anti-Carol" is a good one.
